The stages of resilience based clinical supervision

Creating a safe space - what can this look like?

When a group or an individual initially meets, the first task is to develop a safe space agreement. By doing this will enable the group or individual to bring emotionally sensitive issues. Standard elements will include confidentiality, mutual respect, inclusivity and privacy, however we cannot assume that there is a shared understanding of what this means. By providing an environment where people are given permission increasing the freedom, candor and quality of conversation giving permission and creating safety.

One exercise recommended by RBCS (FONS 2018) to create a safe space is 'stepping in stepping out'
