Mentoring is when someone shares their knowledge, skills, and experience with another person to help them to progress. Mentoring is a relationship normally with a more experienced colleague who shares their greater knowledge to support in your development.
If you are looking for a mentor the first place to start is having a conversation with your line manager to see if they can help you identify someone who could be a suitable mentor. Alternatively, you might be able to access a mentor through other networks at work or through your professional body.
Through NHS Sussex, Sussex Health and Care we are able to offer Mentoring for inclusion. This is mentoring is speciality areas, for example they may focus on different professions (e.g. nursing) or for under-represented groups (e.g. BAME, LGBTQ+, disability).
